I hope everyone is staying safe and healthy during these unprecedented times. The Staten Island Youth Soccer League released a statement last week in part stating: “As for the Spring season, we were holding out hope that NYC would have been able to allow for some activities at some point during the summer months. We have recently been notified the the NYC Parks and Gateway Federal Recreational Park(Miller Field) will not be issuing our permits until September 1st(pending any changes from NYS or NYC authorities).”
I think we all thought this was a possibility with the NYC PAUSE being extended numerous times, but like the league we were hoping for some sort of shortened season and maybe even some normalcy for the kids. Since this has been decided we are now looking forward to the Fall season to hopefully get the children back out and playing again. Of course this completely depends on the rules and regulations set forth by New York State.
We are going to open registration for the Fall 2020/Spring 2021 seasons shortly. The SIYSL is no longer using SI Play so that means that we will also have a new website and registration system. I know this is not the best timing, unfortunately we have no control over this. When we send the new registration link we ask that everyone planning to register to please do so as soon as possible. You will have to create a new login and fill out the player and parent information. This will help us to get an idea of how many players will be returning to each team. To help out financially we will be offering reduced rates for returning players: $100/one child, $175 two siblings, $250 three siblings. All new players will pay the regular rates($160/one child, $250 two siblings, $320 three siblings). These fees will not be charged until we know the Fall season will definitely be played.
